Face Skin Care

Face skin care is the easiest when the consumer can identify the kind of skin type they have. The skin on the face is different from the skin on the rest of the body and can be very sensitive to products and changes. There are six basic types of skin on the face: dry, oily, combination, normal, sensitive, and acne-prone.

To find skin type, wash the face with a basic mild facial cleanser, don’t apply a moisturizer and wait an hour, noting any tightness, itching, or irritation. Examine skin after an hour; if the skin feels tight and is flaky then the skin type is dry.

If the face is shiny all over and feels slightly greasy then the skin type is oily. If only the forehead, nose, chin, and center of cheeks are shiny and greasy then the skin type is combination (also known as T-zone.) Normal skin will still feel clean and soft. Those with sensitive skin will notice irritation, redness, and maybe itching or burning.

People with acne-prone skin will have red, irritated skin with the presence of blackheads, white heads, pimples, or cysts. Acne is a blockage of pores. The pores are clogged with oil and bacteria resulting in one or more of the aforementioned symptoms.
